Craft Desires and Baking Fails

Tell me, do you ever get the desire to craft? I, mean, a real hankering to get out the sewing machine, paint, and hot glue. I get that deep desire all the time. I can't be the only one...

I scan Pinterest, find a half dozen or so pins that I love and involve crafting and then I just want to start making everything I see. Some of you might be the same way and not understand why this is an issue. Well, when you have no money, no fabric, no sewing machine, no paint, and no glue guns, you can't get a lot of craft projects done.

It's like wanting to be singer more than anything, but you can't carry a tune...well there is auto-tune, but still.

Okay, it's like wanting to be a basketball player and being 5'4". Not gonna happen. So, I am a wanna be crafter with no real ability or means to make it happen.

I try to find little things I can do that will satisfy my urge to craft. Like, spray painting something white or silver because those are the only colors I had.

I still pin though. I can't stop myself. I might learn to crochet. I might learn to knit. I might buy a sewing machine. I might learn to draw a straight line without a ruler. All of these things could happen and then I would be set!

With all of that, I have some great craft pins to share with you...six pins to be exact! For starters, I love painting simple glass vases and making them look super cute. I found a pin for Polka Dot Bottles that are just so cute, it is almost wrong. This is something that I could actually handle and it could work for a multitude of colors and bottles.

This pin is for some DIY art that just involves fabric, Styrofoam, and staples. Easy and very pretty! You could easily make a big impact in your room with this pin. It seems like it would be decently cheap and fun to make.

I have my little baby Sophie who I am totally in love with so when I saw a pin for Pet Beds, I was very interested. Turns out, the pin was for a McCall's pattern, but I love the idea. Cute, cheaper than buying a dog bed, and extremely customizable. Love it!

I just recently got a Kindle Touch. I have been obsessing about getting one forever and it finally happened. I bought one off a Facebook Swap Shop. I'm in love with it and since I got it, I have been looking for and seeing pins for eReader cases. I found a DIY iPad Case that would work for my Kindle too and it is incredibly cute and has a vintage feeling.

Moving on from the possible to make pins into the most likely will never get made pins, but they are still amazing. I recently pinned and blogged about a DIY Crocheted Hanging Towel that was really popular. I just found this pattern for Oven Gloves. They would look so adorable with my hanging towels...in fantasy world where I actually make them.

Finally, I found this Hello Kitty Crochet Hat that I think I will see in my dreams. I don't know who I would make them for. Maybe I would make them and just hand them out on the street. Every little girl...every person in love with Hello Kitty in fact, should have this hat on their heads. How can you be unhappy in this hat? It's impossible! I would learn to crochet just so I could make this hat. Yeah, I am that obsessed with it.

Okay, food pin times. On to things I can actually make. Oh, wait, no ingredients and no ability to buy them. And...yeah...I've got a batch of 4-Chip Cookies in my giant cupcake cookie jar that are really not that great. I mean with four chips, peanut butter, and oatmeal, they can't be bad, but they aren't like what I usually make. So I can't even properly make a cookie that I have made for years.

I still pin foods and desserts I love even if I can't always execute them perfectly. Here's one I think I could accomplish: Homemade Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Truffles. These look so yummy and very easy. I love pb. I think it would be so fun to make these.

Just two more pins left. Banana Coconut Upside Down Cake. Let that soak in...bananas, coconut, and an ooey, gooey caramel...on a cake! Yum and it looks so amazing in the picture. You MUST click on the link, if not just to see how good it looks. It is easy, impressive and just tasty!

Last, Caramel Apple Cheesecake Cookies from one of my favorite bloggers, Confessions of a Cookbook Queen. Fall in is the air and I have mentioned how in love I am with fall before. These cookies look like fall and yumminess to me. Cream cheese, apple pie filling, and caramel bits! Yeah, there's no way this could be good. I mean who likes caramel apples or cheesecake, or cookies? Nobody right?!

Well, now you know about my crafting and sometimes baking insecurities. I wanna craft and I wanna bake, but I sometimes lack the skills and just good luck to make it all come together the way I want. If I make a cookie, like the one I pinned above, I want it too look like it does in the pictures. It may taste okay, how could it not, but it needs to look right.

Anyway, wish me good luck and some crafting talents. I will go to bed tonight and dream about my Hello Kitty crocheted hat.
