I have had blogger's block recently. I have been checking out my usual sources of inspiration: Pinterest, Food Gawker, and even Craft Gawker. I find some great things, but nothing really to blog about. Nothing that inspired me.
I wasn't even sure if I was going to write a post tonight, but then...
I watched Dallas!
I challenge anyone to watch the past episodes, including tonight's and not get super excited about the show.
As much as I love this show and I do, it is a family tradition, this blog isn't about TV shows. But, Dallas did get me pumped to write this blog.
So, this week we return to food pins. I have three favorites and I will save them for the end of the blog. First, is a Chopped Waldorf Salad that just sounds so gooood! It has a simple dressing and is comprised of chicken, apples, seedless grapes, blueberries, celery, and almonds. I would take out the celery or use less and would sub craisins for the blueberries, but that is my personal choice. Add in what sounds good to you!
Next, something simple and tasty, a Buttermilk Ranch Cheeseball. Cheeseballs are so classic in my family and we make a few that we absolutely love. This could be a contender. I mean, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, and pecans. How could that not be good?
Seeing as how my brother loves Oreos and my latest Oreo creation didn't turn out the way I wanted it to, I found another Oreo cake to try. This Oreo Stuffed Bundt Cake looks divine! It doesn't seem terribly hard to make either.
Going back to my baking fiasco...yesterday I made a Chocolate Oreo Poke Cake that I had pinned a bit ago. Now, the recipe is great. I was the problem! I let my pudding get too set because I beat it too much and the pudding didn't go into the holes. It just set on top. :(
On to better things or more specifically, my favorite pins of the week. First up, is Hamburger Potato Casserole. It is not really a crazy recipe, I mean it is meat and potatoes, but it just looked good. When you start to drool over the keyboard, you must pin! Check out this pin. You know you want too! ;)
Peachy Keen Bars are my second favorite pin from this week. My mom and grandma made a version of them for years. We just poured canned peaches into a 9X13 baking pan and then sprinkled on yellow cake mix and baked. This recipes takes it to a whole 'nuther level!
It uses the cake mix to make a base and to make crumbles. The base is baked and then peaches go on top. Then you mix together cream cheese, sugar, an egg, and vanilla. That is poured over and then the crumbles top the bars. Bake and devour! I WILL be making this soon!
Finally, I have pin that is similar to one I have shared before. Check it out here. My favorite pin is the Decorated Cake Roll. It uses the same technique as the pin above, but with cake batter to make a fun and expected twist to a traditional cake roll.
That is it ya'll! Pins that got me excited and my favorite pins of the week. Before I close this post, I want to send a shout-out to King Arthur Flour and their great blog http://www.kingarthurflour.com/blog/.
I have gotten some page hits from the blog and I was extremely impressed that the bloggers there comment on every comment they get for their blog posts. It was really refreshing and fun to see a reply to my comments.
I really appreciated and plan to keep reading their posts!
